Before Moving to Cleveland, OH the Barons were originally a professional ice hockey team from Oakland called the California Golden Seals. The franchise began in Oakland in 1967 before relocating to Cleveland and renaming themselves the Barons in 1976. The team played in the NHL for two years before they merged with the Minnesota North Stars in 1978, currently known as the Dallas Stars.
