Massachusetts Is the Heart of New England and the Cradle of Modern America

A state of firsts: The first Thanksgiving, the first public park in America, and the first public secondary school and university in the U.S.

Bay staters know how to get down to business. No offense to the other three commonwealths.

The people of Massachusetts had rebellion flowing through their veins from when the pilgrims landed on Plymouth rock.

If you're from Massachusetts, you're proud to have grown up near the birthplace of the American revolution. You also probably love the fact that your beer and some of your sports teams are named after figures and events from that time.

Impressive New England Cities: Beantown, the Heart of the Commonwealth, and the Graveyard of the Atlantic

Don't be fooled by Massachusetts’ impressive history. New Englanders from this state are some of the most progressive, and the Codfish State is home to innovative companies in the biotechnology, IT, medicine, and finance industries.

Boston and its neighboring city of Cambridge have some of the best colleges in the country, including MIT and Harvard. Talk about state pride!

Bostonians are full of city pride, too, not just because of their history and colleges. When you visit, try out the city's famous lobster roll, clam chowder, and baked beans, and you’ll taste why.

You can even grab a slice of authentic Italian pizza in Little Italy - Boston's North End.

Step outside of Boston, and you'll come across beautiful New England cities like Worcester, located in Central Massachusetts, and hosts one of the country's most iconic St. Patrick's Day Parades.

South of Boston, you'll find the stunning Cape Cod beaches or can spend your day viewing picturesque, colonial-style homes in Martha’s Vineyard.

If you're visiting 617 or any other Massachusetts city, don't forget to pack a hoodie or two, regardless of the season. New England weather can be pretty unpredictable.

Boston Is the #1 Sports Town for Good Reason

It's easy to subscribe to Boston sports fandom.

Even if you're not into sports, you can't help but get infected by the New England sports bug once you land here.

All four major league teams - the Celtics, the Patriots, the Red Sox, and the Bruins - have made Boston the city with the second-most championships titles behind New York.

New York and Boston are traditional sports city rivals. This rivalry dates back to when the Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1919. This (many believe) led the Sox to enter a championship dry spell of 86 years. It wasn't until 2003 that Bostonians got their long-awaited trophy.

Many people worldwide come to Boston every April with their best sports footwear to participate in the Boston Marathon.

No matter what Bay State bar stool you hop on, there's always a sports event to catch.
