New Mexico: Like Regular Mexico, But Closer

At Allegiant Goods, you know we go nuts for state pride. That's why we're presenting our New Mexico collection: possibly the biggest thing to happen to apparel in the state since the Navajo pattern shawl.

If you're lucky enough to call the Land of Enchantment home, then you probably don't need convincing why you'd want to rep your state pride. From Albuquerque to White Sands National Park, it's clear New Mexico has more to it than just cactus and red dirt (although there is plenty of both of those).

If you're a visitor and aren't so familiar with what the Spanish State has to offer, then don't worry. We're here to help you out with a little primer. Everything from great food, and amazing scenery, to a wealth of independent artists—New Mexico is all about life in color.

Everybody is somebody in New Mexico

Depending on where you are in the state, New Mexico may very well look like the surface of the moon which is fitting, since it's home to White Sands Missile Range and Spaceport America—both of which are important spots for outer space research. The Apollo astronauts even trained here!

The state has some natural wonders you won't find on the moon, too, though, like the Rocky Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns. If you're more into snowy climates, there's plenty of that as well. Just check out Santa Fe and Taos Ski Valley and try to tell us Colorado and Utah have all the good slopes...

If you're more of a city slicker, you can't go wrong with Albuquerque, either. Not just the home of Walter White—it hosts the world's largest hot air balloon festival and all sorts of rich food and culture from the Navajo, Pueblo, and Apache peoples (to name a few). We've even got a handy Albuquerque map so you can find your way around.

The Unofficial Home of the Chili Pepper

After all that exploring Albuquerque and beyond, you'll probably have worked up an appetite. In that case, we hope you like it spicy! New Mexicans are known to put green and red chili peppers on just about everything—even t-shirts.

Ever tried a true authentic enchilada? It might just make you swear off Taco Bell forever. In New Mexico, we like it bold, spicy, and flavorful. Posole, tamales, and sopapillas are some of the local favorites, so don't forget to try them all before you hit the trail.

A blend of Mexican, Native American and Spanish influences, New Mexico's cuisine isn't for the faint of heart. If you can handle a little spice, then you'll be in heaven!

It's not just the Mexican-inspired food that's great, either. The pizza is underrated—so much so that some say it may just be the next number one pizza state. Just don't be like Walter and throw it on the roof of your garage...

As for beverages, there's a reason for the expression "drink like a New Mexican". Those from the ABQ (that's Albuquerque, in case you hadn't guessed) sure know how to put back a few margaritas and chile beer. Make sure to mix in the odd agua fresca to stay hydrated, though.

New Mexico's dry climate and high altitude even make it a great spot for growing grapes. Thanks to that, you'll find some vineyards making great wines as part of the emerging wine industry.

Where Sports Culture Runs Deep

I know what you're thinking, and no—sports in New Mexico isn't just about rock climbing and hacky sack. While hiking, skiing, and mountain biking are popular, people here go nuts for college ball, too.

Check out the annual Rio Grande Rivalry football game between the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State if you want to catch a world-class tailgating event. Just don't forget to dress the part. If you can't decide on which team to root for, then maybe just declare where you stand on Albuquerque.

Basketball has long been important to New Mexicans, too. From college basketball to minor league teams like the New Mexico Slam, it has always been a state for major hoopers. And for those who think skating has no place in the desert, the fans of the Albuquerque Six Guns and the New Mexico Scorpions hockey teams would like a word...

New Mexico Apparel for All Occasions

So what are you waiting for? Time to gear up and catch the next bus to NM! We've got all the apparel you'll need for the trip. Everything from t-shirts and long sleeves to hoodies and tank tops, we have you covered. Not to mention some accessories to assist you in ending up where you belong in case you get lost.

All of our clothing is made of ultra-soft cotton—a perfect contrast to that harsh desert rock you'll no doubt be bouldering. And best of all, it's all printed-to-order right here in the USA.
