Missouri: home to many of America's wonderful things, from the Gateway Arch, The Ozark Mountains, the world's best barbecue, and Mark Twain. It's the state so great even Kansas City felt the need to ditch Kansas and join it.
Missouri has natural beauty, sports history, and food culture in spades—Missourians are proud of it. You already know if you're lucky enough to be from there. If you're just visiting, or you're a prospective resident of STL (that's St. Louis for those who aren't in the know), then let us walk you through a few of the things that make it great.
As a bonus, we'll even let you claim you liked it before it was cool...
Not to brag, but we're pretty good at sports here in Missouri. Maybe you've heard of a little team called the Kansas City Chiefs? If not, then perhaps the 2017 Stanley Cup-winning St. Louis Blues?
And if those sports aren't your thing, don't worry; we've got something for the whole family: the Missouri Tigers aren't too shabby for basketball, either. Five NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearances can attest to that.
If you want to really flex your Missouri sports knowledge, remember some of the lesser-known but still iconic teams from the past—like St. Louis' Storm, Stars, and Vipers soccer teams, or the Kansas City Packers baseball team.
Missourians of a certain age will fondly remember catching games at Busch Memorial Stadium and Sportsman's Park (aptly named if we say so ourselves). Sports history runs so deep here; it's baked into the architecture!
Watching all those sports is a great way to work up an appetite. Luckily, Missouri has some of the finest cuisine on planet Earth; if you're into barbecue, that is.
Missouri barbecue is meat with a dry rub, slow-cooked over a wood fire, and covered in sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. It requires some patience, though, as it can take up to 12 hours to cook it properly. That pulled pork and beef brisket will definitely be worth the wait.
Now you might think all this sounds like other types of barbecue, but trust us... Missouri barbecue is better. Just be careful not to get any on your Missouri Tigers t-shirts.
We've got you covered if you're not so much of a carnivore. Ever tried toasted ravioli? It's a St. Louis delicacy that's just so crazy it works. The list goes on: fried catfish, pork steak, and even beer cheese soup are just a few of the unique items you'll find on Missouri menus. The word is Missouri-style pizza is cause for us to be in consideration for Number One Pizza State.
And to wash it all down, we recommend one of the local specialties, so you can truly drink like a Missourian. Anheuser-Busch was founded here in St. Louis—so the next time you're sipping a Bud Light, you're paying homage to Missouri, whether you know it or not.
For the oenophiles, we've got Missouri wine. It is wine made with home-grown grapes ranging from full-bodied reds to dry and fruity whites. Bet you wouldn't have guessed it, but winemaking in the state dates back to the mid-1800s.
It doesn't stop there, either. If you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, try a Gooey Butter Cake martini inspired by the famous St. Louis dessert of the same name. And even though it isn't technically a drink, you'd better try some of Ted Drewes' frozen custard—they've been serving it since 1929.
Now that you've had a quick lesson on all things Missouri culture, it's time to dress the part. After all, you wouldn't want to show up in the 816 looking like a total fish out of water, would you?
We've got all your wardrobe needs sorted with our line of awesome Missouri t shirts. Everything from long sleeve to v-neck shirts, in styles for both men and women—you just need to choose the one (or ten) you love the most.

You can't go wrong with a good Missouri t shirt—just trust us on that one. But if you like to accessorize, we've got bags, flags, and maps, too! So, what are you waiting for? Grab one for yourself, or gift it to the Missouri lover in your life.
