The Providence Reds are one of the longest lasting professional hockey teams, having started in 1926 and operating over 50 years. The team played in two different leagues, the last of which was the American Hockey League which the Reds joined in 1936. The team would win four championships before the league folded in 1977, when the franchise was acquired and relocated to Binghamton to become the Dusters.
