The "Disneyland of the Northeast" was opened in Wakefield, MA in 1959. It was named Pleasure Island and was designed by William Hawkes who was also a designer of Disneyland. The park covered 80 acres and would stay open for only ten years before closing in 1969. Today, the land that the park occupied is now newly developed office space.
