When Roller Hockey International decided to add more teams to the league, they chose Atlanta to host one of them. The Fire Ants joined the league and used the Omni Coliseum as their home arena for the 1994 season. The team made the playoffs, but lost in the first round and was quickly selected as one of three teams to relocate for the 1995 season.
