The Baltimore Skipjacks were born in 1979 as the Baltimore Clippers in the Eastern Hockey League, but would soon change the name and move to the American Hockey League in 1982. The team would use the Baltimore Civic Center in Baltimore, MD as its home ice for all fourteen seasons that the team was in operation, and actually reached the league championship Calder Cup in 1984.
