A throwback to Bill Johnson's Big Apple, the cowboy barbecue joint that fired up on Van Buren in 1956 under its giant longhorn-and-"Let's Eat!!" neon sign. Founder Bill Johnson was pure Arizona showman — a stuntman, pilot, and radio host who broadcast his show from a mock jail cell in the dining room, with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings dropping by. And quietly, it was a civil rights landmark: in the days of segregation, it served everyone, reportedly the only place on that stretch of old Route 66 that would. Fifty-nine years of ribs and cinnamon dressing, closed in 2015.
Our women’s slim-fitting t-shirt features a classic set-in crew neck collar with tapered shoulders, and side seam stitching to ensure it keeps it’s shape wash after wash. We use an incredibly soft cotton that’s combed and ringspun. With a fabric weight of 4.2 oz, they have just the right amount of comfort and breathability.
