Despite its name, Utah's Bryce Canyon is not technically a canyon. Natives occupied the land for at least 10,000 years, but wasn't explored by European Americans until the late 18th century. It's unique geology displays a record of deposition spanning from the Cretaceous period all the way to the first half of the Cenozoic era. Its hoodoos are made of sediment from the Claron Formation were first laid out by sediment 60-40 million years ago.
