The Hampton Road Admirals were one of the most successful ECHL organizations during their 11 seasons. They made the playoffs every year and won 3 league championships, including back to back in '91 and '92. They were coached by John Brophy who served as the inspiration behind Paul Newman's character Reggie Dunlap from the movie Slap Shot.
