A throwback to the Topaz Room, the music-and-dancing room inside the Hotel Tulsa. It was a grand hotel that opened in 1912 to house the oilmen pouring in after the Glenn Pool strike. Its lobby doubled as the unofficial oil exchange, where a man could assemble leases in the morning and be a millionaire inside ninety days, and the Topaz Room is where Tulsa went when the deals were done. A judge shuttered the place in 1962 and the building came down; the Performing Arts Center sits there now. If you danced in the Topaz Room, you remember it.
