A throwback to Lew Tendler’s, the steakhouse and bar at Broad and Locust run by the greatest southpaw who ever lived. Tendler grew up at 6th and Reed fighting other newsboys for street corners, then fought Benny Leonard for the lightweight title and lost on one of the most famous nights in boxing. He opened the restaurant in 1933, a couple of months before Repeal, and for the next 37 years it was the Quaker City’s sporting hub: thick sirloins, cheap whiskey, Bert Bell running the NFL from a table, and enough bookmakers that a 1944 report to the baseball commissioner called it the gamblers’ payoff joint. It closed in 1970. Lew went the same year.
This updated unisex essential fits like a vintage well-loved favorite. Expertly crafted with an ultra-soft fabric, baby rib collar, reinforced side-seam, and excellent quality print, our shirts will easily be the best in your closet. Solid colors are 100% cotton, heather colors feature a 52/48 cotton/poly blend.
