The Memphis Sounds were a professional basketball team located in Memphis, Tennessee for one season of operation. The franchise began as in Louisiana as the New Orleans Buccaneers, who were a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association. After the initial move to Memphis in 1970, the team had two names before finally becoming the Sounds in 1974. The Mid South Coliseum was their home arena for that year, which would ultimately be their only season as the Sounds before the team was relocated to Baltimore in 1975 by the ABA.
