In 1972, Nashville, Tennessee became "The Home of American Music." That's what Opryland USA theme park was called as it hosted over two million visitors annually. The park operated seasonally and held a large number of major music events as well as providing your typical amusement park rides. Throughout 25 years, Opryland USA went through an ownership change as well as numerous upgrades an additions before it was ultimately closed in 1997. It would soon be demolished and become the parking lot for the Grand Ole Opry House in 1998.
