A throwback to the Step Hi Cocktail Lounge on South Wabash, named for the way you were meant to walk out of it. It sat on a stretch that kept lounges and clubs running for decades under the rattle of the L, Eddie Foy's up the street in the '50s, the Blue Star in the '70s, Buddy Guy's after that. The Step Hi was part of that run. The L still rattles past. The lounges mostly don't.
