Taking over for the Utica Bulldogs midway through the '94 season due to mismanagement, the Blizzard played their home games at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. On one occasion, head coach Ric Seiling, a former Buffalo Sabre, needed to suit up due to too many player injuries. The team moved to Winston-Salem in 1997 to become the IceHawks after the arena couldn't come to terms on a new lease.
